Top Starters is part of the Top Injectors Group. You are welcome to bring your starter motor in, or send it from anywhere in the UK.

What we do

1. Strip and inspect. Full disassembly and inspection of the armature, brushes, solenoid and bendix drive.
2. Rebuild to spec. Worn components are replaced with quality parts, and the unit is bench-tested under load before it leaves us.
3. Warranty and dispatch. A 12-month warranty applies, then fast UK dispatch. Royal Mail Special Delivery is available.

Typical turnaround is 24 to 48 hours.

• Brushes and brush holders.
• Solenoid and contacts.
• Drive gear (bendix).
• Armature.
• Field coils.
• Bearings and bushes.

Exchange basis

We supply an already reconditioned, bench-tested starter motor on exchange, so there is no waiting for your own unit. Your old starter becomes the core, and a refundable core deposit applies.

Signs your starter needs attention

• Clicking and no crank. A rapid click usually points to a worn solenoid or failing contacts inside the motor.
• Grinding on start-up. Often a worn drive gear (bendix) failing to mesh cleanly with the flywheel.
• Intermittent starting. Works sometimes, then nothing: a classic sign of worn brushes or a loose internal connection.
• Spinning without engaging. The drive gear is not engaging the flywheel properly and needs replacing.
